Most people tend to associate wearing sunglasses with the warm summer months, because of the warm weather and bright sunshine. However, you may not know that sunglasses are actually more important during the cold winter months that we’re moving into now. There are a few major reasons for this:
-During the winter, the sun is lower in the sky than it is during the warmer months of the year. This means that if you are outside for long periods of time during the winter, your eyes can actually get more UV exposure than they would during warmer months.
-Snow on the ground can reflect up to 80% of the sun’s rays, compounding the UV exposure your eyes are being exposed to.
If you like to enjoy the outdoors during the winter, then we strongly encourage you to regularly wear sunglasses that will block the majority of the UV rays your eyes are bombarded with.
